- My story so far. Do you like it? btw, if you want more, ask. I can't put it all on here?
Sorry for it being so long! The snow chilled me as I lay listening to the steam gurgle, waiting once more for Adrienne to arrive at my winter lodge. I closed my eyes as the wind whipped snowflakes and hair into my face making me shiver, wishing that the soft blanket of snow that covered the earth and mounded on the oaks could somehow warm me, but I was too cold for more poetic thoughts. I stood, brushing snow from my clothes. Wolves were howling in the woods, a soft, distant sound while closer a Barred Owl repeated his eight noted call, ending as always with the rapidly fading last note as if the bird was falling away from me into some bottomless hole. Adrienne always took forever meeting me here. I knew Adrienne since I was the new kid in third grade. I was the only one dressed in a blue and white dress with my hair in ringlets down to my waist. My ice blue eyes seem to amaze everyone there. I had my pink backpack on my back. My eyes locked with a girl who had brown hair in a pony tail and glossy green eyes. She, along with the rest of the girls, was dressed in pants and a shirt. My mom was talking to the teacher, who looked down at me and smiled. Her face was caked with makeup and her hair looked stiff with the amount of hairspray she put in it. I watched as the teacher bent down so she was eye level with me. “You can sit with Adrienne.” the teacher said. Her breath smelt like a cigarette she had just recently smoked. My nose wrinkled up and my mom took my backpack. She kissed my forehead and told me to have fun. I walked over with the teacher at my side and sat beside the girl with brown hair. “I’m Adrienne, as you already know,” she said. Her voice sounded snappy and smart and she didn’t even know my name yet. “I’m Alana.” I replied. My voice seemed to hush everyone up. I barely talked all day at school. Most of the kids in my class had teased me of being different and of being a Jesus Freak. I didn’t mind it, of course, because I had God by my side. As I walked out of the school, I saw that no one was here to pick me up. As I wondered where my mom was, I walked home. A steady cool drizzle of rain fell from the darkened clouds in the sky. I ran through a field and hid beneath the canopy of trees. I looked around. The rain was turning the space around me grey the harder it fell. I sat down, hay needles sticking to my dress. I pulled out my Bible from my backpack and began to read where I left off the night before. The warm leather seemed to send me peace and happiness throughout my body as I strummed through the pages. I prayed to God beforehand, and that’s where my life changed. I heard the snow being crunched under the pressure of someone. My head snapped to my right and I saw Adrienne. She was dressed in her new American Eagle jacket and a pair of black pants. I walked calmly over to her as she wrapped her arms around me in a hug. I let out my breath as I hugged her back, not realizing I was holding it. My touch was warm and gentle. When we pulled away, I saw the tip of her nose was a rosy red, the same color as her cheeks. I noticed she wasn’t wearing any gloves, so I gave her mine out of my pocket. She hurriedly put them on and smiled. “Ready to go to Miles’s house?” she asked as I looked at the snow angel I made. I looked at her. Her eyes were hinted with a red tint like she had been crying. “Sure. Let’s walk.” I replied. The steady trickle of the frozen snow covered us. As we walked in our own personal snowy wonderland, I ran my fingers over the rough barks of the trees. I heard Adrienne sing her favorite song to herself. As I watched her dance around in circles to herself, the howling of the wolves became louder and more precise of to if it was the leader or not. To tell the difference in this small town of Isola, the leaders howl was louder and more aggressive sounding. I’ve only seen them. I’ve always wanted to get close but never had the guts to. As Adrienne danced along the snowy path, I could see Miles’s house some into view. I cleared my throat and she looked at me. Miles’s house was a large two story white house. The window frames were painted blue. Every room was wood. They thought it was for wealth. I thought it just looked weird. Miles was always the stuck up type of person that would stab you in the back the first change he got but he’s never done that to Adrienne or myself. The second week of school that I was there, a chubby girl with pigtails took my Bible from my hands. I watched the way her face went into a sneer as I tried grabbing it. As the leather skimmed my hand, I was able to grip it. I looked at her. She began to cry as my eyes sliced into hers. I knew I had given her a death look because when she let go, the Bible flew out of my hands and the papers scattered across the floor. It had felt like my heart was ripped out of my chest because I could taste blood in my mouth. I started new paragraphs for a new memory. I may just push enter twice. I didn’t know what was happening to me but my mom always told me that she would explain it once I was older. Once the pages were organized, I quietly left the school and walked home. As I walked through the doorway of my house, I didn’t hear any movement of any kind. The warm wood beneath my feet made them tingle once my shoes were off. The floor creaked beneath my weight as I walked through wooden doorframe to my warm room. The sun was shining through the open window near the far right. My backpack slid gently off of my shoulders and onto the floor. As I walked over to the window to close it, I noticed someone in the field, near the horses. I knew it wasn’t my mom because it was in the form of a man. No form of fright was in my body as I ran out the door and through the field, over to the man watching the horses. The closer the man was in view, the easier to see it was one of my moms friends that she said I would one day meet. I stopped right beside him and looked up.
